VURNIKOVA ŠTUDENTSKA NAGRADA ZA LETO 2023
Center for Architecture Slovenia, Municipality of Radovljica, Local Community of Radovljica, Faculty of Architecture of the University of Ljubljana, and the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering and Architecture of the University of Maribor established the Vurnik Student Award for the most promising student of architecture, landscape architecture or urbanism. In the year 2022, the Faculty of Biotechnology of the University of Ljubljana joined the founders and with that also students of the program Landscape architecture.
The Vurnik Student Award is awarded to students for their entire body of work throughout their study - to 4th and 5th year students of the Long-cycle Master's Study Programme in Architecture (University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Architecture), 1st and 2nd year students of the Second Cycle study programme in Urbanism (University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Architecture), 1st and 2nd year students of the Master’s Study Programme in Architecture (University of Maribor, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering and Architecture), and 1st and 2nd year Master’s Study Programme in Landscape Architecture (University of Ljubljana, Biotechnical Faculty). One Vurnik Student Award and two equivalent honorary prizes will be awarded to the students.
This award is both honorary and monetary (1,500 EUR net for the first-prize winner) and is intended for the winner to go on a study trip. The recipient of the Vurnik Student Award will give a presentation with impressions from the trip during the next Vurnik Days. Two honorary prizes with a value of 300 EUR net, which do not impose obligations on the recipients.
The Vurnik Student Award was for the most promising student of architecture, landscape architecture or urbanism established in 2018 by Center for Architecture Slovenia to mark the 100th anniversary of higher education in architecture in Slovenia, which was organised at the initiative of the architect Ivan Vurnik.
The award, which is conceptually and financially supported by the Local Community of Radovljica, the Municipality of Radovljica, the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Ljubljana and the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Traffic Engineering and Architecture of the University of Maribor, is honorary and financial.

Za svoja dela znotraj podjetja Jereb in Budja arhitekti d.o.o. je prejel več arhitekturnih nagrad, med drugim Plečnikovo medaljo, Plečnikovo nagrado, zlati svinčnik za odlično realizacijo ter nominacijo za evropsko nagrado za arhitekturo Mies van der Rohe (nomination for the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award) in nagrado Prešernovega sklada leta 2021 za projekta Materinski dom v Ljubljani in poslovna stavba TEM Čatež.

Idis Turato, arhitekt
Turato arhitekti, Hrvaška
Leta 1991 diplomira na Fakulteti za arhitekturo Univerze v Zagrebu, kjer je tudi leta 2004 magistriral. Leta 1992 je skupaj s Sašom Randićem odprl arhitekturni biro Randić-Turato. Poučuje v Splitu, na Fakulteti za arhitekturo FGAG. Prejel je številne nagrade in priznanja. Leta 2006 je skupaj s Sašom Randićem zastopal Hrvaško na 10. arhitekturnem bienalu v Benetkah. Je avtor številnih strokovnih člankov in kritik. Je tudi pogost govornik na različnih dogodkih in forumih.

Nina Granda, arhitektka
soustanoviteljica revije Outsider in njena glavna in odgovorna urednica, Slovenija
Nina Granda je arhitektka, urednica revije Outsider in kolumnistka časnika Delo. Leta 2017 je skupaj s soustvarjalci revije Outsider prejela Plečnikovo medaljo za prispevek k bogatitvi arhitekturne kulture. Od leta 2021 je članica mednarodne mreže RebelArchitette, ki se ukvarja z izpostavljanjem ženskih vzornic v arhitekturi. Leta 2021 je v okviru uredništva revije Outsider oživila prej zapuščeno Plečnikovo trafiko na Vegovi, ki je postala mikro kulturni center in je bila leta 2022 izbrana med 20 najboljših javnih prostorov v Evropi (European Prize for Urban Public Space). Leta 2022 je prejela priznanje častnega člana Zbornice za arhitekturo in prostor Slovenije. Kot arhitektka se posveča prenovi dediščine, trajnostni gradnji in raziskavam novih pristopov, kot je gradnja z zemljo, ki poleg prostora gradi skupnost.

dr. Maja Simoneti, krajinska arhitektka in urbanistka

Maja Simoneti je krajinska arhitektka, z več kot trideset leti prakse iz prostorskega, urbanističnega in krajinsko arhitekturnega načrtovanja, poglobljeno se ukvarja s participacijo v urejanju prostora, z načrtovanjem in upravljanjem zelenih površin ter s promocijo hoje in načrtovanjem zdravju prijaznega okolja, je dejavna raziskovalka, avtorica in soavtorica številnih strokovnih prispevkov in knjig ter aktivna zagovornica javnih interesov v urejanju prostora in varstvu okolja.

The students should prepare:
A personal portfolio (A4 format, max. 50 pages and not more than 15 projects)
- a short description of each project in both Slovenian and English
- the applicant’s Master’s Thesis should not be included in the portfolio
- the applicants should submit only a digital version in PDF format (on a CD or USB drive).
An original essay on architecture, landscape architecture and/or urbanism (recommended number of characters without spaces: 7000‒10,000; in Slovenian and English)
- the applicants should clearly indicate one or more passages of the essay that the applicant wishes to highlight in the catalogue. All passages must not exceed 2500 characters (with spaces).
- the applicants should submit only a digital version in DOC and PDF format (on a CD or USB drive)
